Now that the month of May is coming to an end. We wanted to share the snacks/treats we’ve been loving as of lately.
1. Smart Sweets Gummy Bears
These gummy bears help curve our sweet tooth without the guilt! I will link off their websites FAQ page. This bag is about palm size and comes in a sour or fruity flavor, I think they have more, but these are the only ones they had at our wholefoods. More options are available on their website. These are sweetened with stevia which is an amazing natural sweetener. Available on their website and at Wholefoods stores! Give them a try.
2. Dahlicious Lassi Organic – Alphonso Mango
If you’re a fan of yogurt kefirs or mango lassi drinks than you must try this! This taste just like a mango lassi, but loaded with tons of probiotics. This is one of our favorite ways to start off the mornings when we’re in a rush, just poor some into a glass and enjoy. We’ve only been able to find this at Wholefoods Markets. If you’re able to find this we suggest you give it a try.
3. Trail Nuggets PRO – Peanut butter & Cocoa
We’ve been on the search for protein bars that don’t contain a bunch of unknown ingredients these have the cleanest ingredients that we’ve been able to find so far. The ingredients are simple just: Dates, Peanuts, Pea Protein, Cocoa, Peanut Flour, Water, Coconut Sugar, Salt. We like to bring these on hikes or just keep some at work in the office just anywhere really. We by these by the box at Trader Joes I think its $17.99 for a 12 count.
4. Lundberg Organic Brown Rice Cakes
These rice cakes are super convenient to have and we like to snack with them alone or use it as our toast for an avocado toast with an egg on top. Also we have topped it with a bit of peanut or almond butter, bananas and some local honey that we use to combat our allergies. We’ve been able to find these at our local Raley’s, Trader Joe’s, & Wholefoods.

We wanted to share something we’ve incorporated into our diets recently. If you are like us and find yourself struggling with including enough fruits and greens in your diet then this product may be something up your alley. We’ve been supplementing with this product for about a month and a half now, and wanted to share our personal opinion and experience with it. The reason we ordered this product was to ensure that we were in-taking enough fruits and vegetables and vitamins in our daily diet. For the most part we feel like it is hard for us to get in all of the daily nutrients the body needs.
This product is great for our lifestyle, it is simple and does not taste horrible (mind you we like the very green flavor it has) but we know it is not for everyone. We appreciate that this company makes their products Organic, Non-GMO, Vegan, and Kosher. They offer various flavors, (such as berry, lemon, and acai) but we just went for the tried and true original formula and flavor. We bought ours through Amazon for faster shipping we also read many reviews and decided to give it a try. Since taking this supplement we’ve noticed that we both have a lot more energy throughout the day, and we don’t feel as groggy as the day progresses. We take this once a day in the morning in a smoothie. Below we will list the smoothie recipe we use, it can vary from day-to-day. But we will include things you can add if you are not fond of the distinct “green” taste it has. We think it is a great option for people like us who try their best to get in all their fruits and greens, but know that some days it just does not happen.
Ingredients for Green smoothie:
1 – 1/2 cup – Water or coconut water(Soy, almond, coconut milk) or (freshly squeezed juice)
1 scoop – Green Super food powder (scoop is included)
1 cup – Frozen mango chunks or (any fruit you have on hand, berries, stone fruit, melons)
1/2 – Banana and/or (1 tbsp Honey Greek yogurt)
Ice optional (if you use fresh fruit and want it a bit colder)
*One tip we do recommend is that you place in the liquids and fruit first before the powder for a better overall blend.
This is are basic recipe you can change-up the flavor profiles by interchanging with the ingredient options listed beside each. The options we listed are just some variations that we use to change-up the taste. This is our second addition to our series -Local Business We Frequent-. This market is similar to the Anaheim packing district if you have ever visited. Just think of it on a much smaller scale. We often take day trips out here to grab some good food, or pick up some things we need for the house. It’s location is on a bend of a river, hence the name Oxbow. There are so many things to explore in this market. Here we wanted to share our favorite stops, and just some general information. Happy reading!

Three Twins ice cream
Our favorite ice cream brand, we love their flavor combinations their wholesome organic ingredients, is what brings them to the top of our list. We know it’s not available everywhere, but they do carry this brand in certain super markets so here’s a link to their website to find a location near you. Our favorite flavors are Dad’s Cardamom, Banana Nut Confetti, Land of Milk and Honey, and Mint Confetti. Highly suggest to try this if you get the chance.
2. Whole Spice Napa Valley
This little spice shop offers such variety, we often come here to pick up all kinds of spices/ blends. This shop carries anything from whole chamomile buds, lamb seasoning blend, many curries from different regions, Mexican mole blends, and their own house blends. If you love to cook and try new foods like we do, spice shops are a beautiful thing. On this particular day, we picked up some curry blends (Japanese and Madrag), and we are in the midst of prepping a recipe to share with you all. Also, one of our traditions when we go out shopping- small shops is to pick up quality handmade soap bars. So we also stopped by The Olive Press and grabbed a new artisan soap bar, this one is in Rose-milk.
The Oxbow market offers a variety of places to eat and enjoy from burgers, to indoor restaurant seating, a butcher, fresh produce, fresh fish, coffee bar, cupcakes, pastries, baguettes, book shop, oyster bar and a fresh juice bar. Here’s some pictures we snapped to give you a sense of the place. If you find yourself in wine country it is a must see spot forsure.
With the many attractions close by, its even located next to the Napa Valley Wine Train station. Pay a visit if you enjoy local produce and supporting small shops. Hope you all enjoyed!

It is that cold time of year, and we thought we’d share some of our favorite and new teas with you. During the colder months we tend to go a little crazy with tea, don’t know why but it just offers the most comforting feeling for the two of us. Little did we know, when we pulled out our whole selection we had not realized how much we accumulated in such a short time. We have about 1-3 cups a day, (drinking lots of water in between) and of course in the evenings we try to avoid any tea that is caffeinated. I would say we are not your typical Tevana drinking people. Although they may have some tasty stuff, along with the support of Oprah. It is not worth the price of having their employees shoving their products down your throat. How many of you have ever felt personally victimized by the Tevana staff? Anyway, during the warmer weather we do enjoy lots of other teas and we will share them as the seasons change. So in this posts we will list the teas description and how/when and where we like to enjoy them, also we will include where you can purchase all of these.
Chai Tea is Raphy’s go to morning tea, since he has weaned himself off of having 3 shots of espresso each morning. This tea is a black tea, that has many spices including ginger, cardamom, black pepper, cloves and star anise mixed in. Although every brand has their own combination of spices, so it can vary. Raphy will have this in the morning and sometimes during his lunch hour for a mid-day pick up. He likes to have it with a splash of soy milk and sometimes a bit of honey. This one we picked up at Raleys, but you can get this at any market.
Mint tea specifically peppermint is something we have when we have nausea, itchy throat, uneasy stomach. This literally is like drinking warm pepperminty water, you can add honey and a sliver of ginger for flavor. It is caffeine free and herbal tea. This one we picked up at Target.
Throat Coat is something we have anytime we are feeling a bit under the weather. It really helps calm the throat and keeps it from being so dry. The ingredients include echinacea root, and licorice root. It is caffeine free and is an herbal tea. Which can make the aroma you get when you steep this tea is quite strong, and unlike anything I can describe, it is not for your novices’ palette. It smells and has a sweetness to it. But no worries just add a lot of Manuka honey to your cup, and it shall aid you to gulp it down. This one you can pick up from Target or your local Vitamin shop.
Trader Joe’s Ginger Pear is so yummy, and during the summer months we found ourselves making sun tea with a few hibiscus leaves mixed in. Serve with a cup full of ice and some mint leaves. This tea is a white tea with chamomile, ginger root, and lemon peels mixed in. Definitely a crowd pleaser even when served warm with a splash of milk and honey.
This Trader Joe’s Irish breakfast tea is Raphy’s go to for when he is not feeling the spice of chai tea. He will reach for this black tea instead. Good for a mid-day pick up, this tea is great on its own or with some coconut sugar mixed in. This breakfast tea uses Assam tea leaves grown at high elevations according to Trader Joe’s. We like it because it comes in a bulk sized box with 80 tea bags for $2.99 usd. What a deal.
Vanilla Comoro this is a very new tea we’ve been trying out, firstly the packaging really drew us in because we could see ourselves reusing it of course. It is a decaffeinated black tea packaged in silken sachets which are very appealing to the eye. The black tea leaves are mixed with vanilla, so when drinking this tea on its own you sort of feel like your having a rich milky drink even when there’s no milk. When you add some honey or milk it literally tastes like a treat. So if you find yourself having a craving for something sweet but don’t necessarily want to have a candy bar or a patisserie just reach for a cup of this. This one we picked up at Target.
Roasted Rice Green tea, typically this tea is served in sushi restaurants. This green tea is very aromatically pleasing to us. It has toasted rice mixed inside so when you steep this tea you get that pleasing warm smell. We do not have this tea with honey or milk it is something we like just straight plain and simple. No additives needed. We mostly enjoy this warm, and not iced, or cooled. This one we picked up at our local Asian Market.
Chamomile, is an herbal with no caffeine and is so good before bed. And helps calm the mind and helps us sleep better. We like to have this tea with a bit of honey or just on its own. Usually we like to steep real flower buds, but when we aren’t able to find them or forget to order them we substitute with tea bags. We find that the real flower buds offer a much sweeter cleaner taste. But prepackaged will have to suffice for now. If you get the chance to buy the real deal we recommend it. You can pick this up at most grocery stores, the whole flower buds we like to order online through Amazon or whichever has the better deal.
Roasted dandelion root, is herbal and caffeine free this tea is good for stimulating the liver and supports digestion. I just really enjoy the flavor of this tea with some honey. I find it does help with digestion. I like to have a cup of this tea after a meal, it has sweetness with a slightly bitter roasted taste in the end. Which is why I do enjoy it with a bit of honey. This one we picked up at our local Vitamin shop.
Jasmin tea last but not least I did want to mention it comes in green or black tea and many combinations in between. I didn’t have a picture of it to post up, on the count that we finished all of it. But we love Jasmin tea, in any form it has a very floral taste and aroma. And it is not for everyone, but I grew up drinking this tea we like to enjoy it in the evening hours or for breakfast. You can usually get any form of this tea in your normal grocery store or we like to get our from a local Asian Market.
